HOW TO PLAY
While there are differences in playing a real game of
Craps at a real Casino and playing this Java applet version of the game,
the concepts remain the same. This game takes into account all the
correct odds as well as the correct payoffs. Therefore, when playing
this game it is best to imagine yourself in Las Vegas playing with
(and hopefully winning) real money! Obviously, when playing in Las
Vegas you don't need a Java enabled Web Browser. However, in this
game you will require Java Applets to be enabled on your Web Browser.
Your computer, the browser and the applet do most of the
work for you. Think of this game as having a very knowledgeable and
helpful Craps Table crew. The Stickman informs the applet what
to do, when to do it and notifies you when certain actions need to be
taken. And the Dealer will keep you covered by making sure you have
varying denominations of chips to make bets with and change your bet amount
(when necessary) in order for you to get the best house advantage.
Just as in a real Casino, the Dealer and Stickman (the applet
in this case) will not tell you WHERE to make bets or HOW MUCH to bet.
Rather, the details of taking the fullest advantage of free-odds and
calculating the correct payoffs are handled for you. All you need to
do is point and click the mouse.

Step-by-Step Instructions
When you first enter the game you will notice a dark green
craps table with 3X,4X,5X odds and $1,000 in your Bankroll (Note: these
are the default options and can be changed by clicking on the
 button - see
Options below). You will also notice
the text "COME OUT ROLL" under the dice. This is displayed
whenever a point has not yet been established. Within the Don't Come
area you will see a black round object with the words "OFF"
inside it: . This also tells
you that no number has been established and you are "Coming-Out"
on the next roll of the dice.
In this game (in fact, most any game of Craps) the
following basic rules apply:

The Shooter (you) must first make either a Pass
Line and/or Don't Pass Bet. Just as in most Casinos, the Shooter
must have a Line Bet prior to rolling. Pass bettors are commonly
referred to as "right bettors" and Don't Pass bettors are
referred to as "wrong bettors". These are not moral
judgments, rather simply ways to refer to the type of bettor.

Come, Don't Come, Place and Lay Bets cannot be made
on a Come Out Roll. Bets on the Field, Big 6, Big 8, Hardways
and One Roll Bets can be made at anytime regardless of whether or
not a point is established and are always working when on the table.

If a 7 or 11 is rolled, the Pass Line Bet wins and the
Don't Pass Bet loses immediately. If a 2, 3, or 12 (craps) is
rolled, the Pass Line Bet loses and the Don't Pass Bet wins (except
for the 12 roll which is a standoff, since the 12 is barred on the
Don't Pass) immediately. Should any of these numbers be rolled
on the Come Out Roll, no point is established so the next roll will
still be a Come Out Roll.

If any other number is rolled (4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10),
that number becomes the "Point". Should this point
be repeated before a 7 is rolled the Pass Line Bet wins and the Don't
Pass Bet loses. Should a 7 be rolled before the point is repeated
the Pass Line Bet loses and the Don't Pass Bet wins. Upon a
point being made or a seven-out, the next roll will be a Come Out Roll.

Let's now step through a simple example of how to
play the game:

Say it is the Come Out Roll and you want to make a
$10 bet on the Pass Line. Start by clicking on a $5 chip
 in your
Bankroll (Chips). You just
picked up a $5 chip but have not made a bet yet. You will notice the
words "Picked
up $5" above and the button bar
under your Bankroll. At this point you could return the bet in
your hand (the $5 you just picked up) by clicking on the "
Return Chip(s) to Bankroll" button. However, we are NOT going
to do that.

Now click again on a $5 chip in your Bankroll. You will
now see the words "Picked
up $10" above your Bankroll.

Now click anywhere within the area labeled "
PASS LINE" on the table. You will now see your $10 bet turned horizontally
 and within the Pass
Line area.

Roll the dice by clicking on the "Roll Dice"
button
 . Assume the
number rolled was a 5.

You now want to take full double odds (free odds,
which might be something other than double odds depending on the
options you selected) on your bet. To take odds you do not have
to click on your Bankroll first, rather simply click on the
Pass Line. The applet will subtract $20 from your Bankroll and
place a stack of four $5 chips just behind your Pass Line Bet.
At this time, you could make other wagers by clicking on your
Bankroll then on other bet areas. However, this is a simple example,
so we will just stay with our Pass Line Bet with odds.

Roll the dice again. No other rolled number matters
except for a 5 or 7. If the 5 is rolled you win. If a 7 is rolled you
lose. For our example, let's assume a 5 is rolled.

You will notice a stack of two $5 chips (or $10)
next to your original $10 bet, plus a $25 chip and a $5 chip
($30) next to your odds bet. Your original bet paid even-money,
but your odds bet paid 3 to 2.

To pick up your winnings, simply click anywhere
within the Pass Line area again. The applet will add these amounts
to your Bankroll but keep your original bet in the Pass Line area
(it is assumed you will want to make the same bet in the same area
again). If you want to pick up this bet, click in the Pass Line
area once again. If you want to add to the bet repeat steps 1
through 3.

determine certain game options, such as the Table Color, Initial
